The European Parliament and the Council have agreed a very important energy law. This directive means that more than one-third of the EU’s electricity will come from renewable energy in 2020, instead of more than 15% in 2005. By 2020, wind energy (onshore and offshore) is expected to have overtaken hydropower as the EU’s largest source of renewable electricity.
